FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SINGAPORE, 3 JUNE 2026 — Pink Dot marks its 18th year by inviting Singaporeans to “Come Get Personal”.

Following the repeal of Section 377A, conversations around LGBTQ+ issues in Singapore have shifted from a single galvanising issue towards a wider range of issues and lived experiences across the community. At the same time, many people are navigating a world that feels increasingly overwhelming and polarised. This year’s campaign, “Come Get Personal”, is Pink Dot’s response to that moment.

“This year, Pink Dot is about remembering something simple: our stories are personal. They’re about real people: our families, friendships and communities,” said Pink Dot spokesperson Andee Tay. “There’s so much happening in the world right now, it can feel hard to know what to care about or how to even begin making a difference. At such moments the instinct can be to turn away or retreat into ourselves. But we’re inviting people to do the opposite: to start with what is personal, with the people in front of us. To hear someone else’s story, meet someone new, and connect to experiences beyond your own.”

This invitation is reflected in Pink Dot 18’s redesigned park experience centred on storytelling and connection, coming to Hong Lim Park on 27 June 2026.

Centering the communities behind the stories

“Community groups have always been a big part of Pink Dot but this year they’ll be leading the way in telling our community’s stories. These groups are the beating heart of queer life in Singapore – not just on Pink Dot day, but throughout the year,” said Pink Dot spokesperson Andee Tay. “They are the people creating spaces for support and belonging the other 364 days of the year. We wanted the park experience to reflect that reality more closely.”

To do this, Pink Dot 18 will feature a reimagined park experience. Instead of centering a single stage and concert experience, the entire park will become a space for attendees to move through and explore1. Different zones or “villages” across Hong Lim Park will focus on different aspects of queer life in Singapore — from relationships and identity, to school, work, community and everyday social navigation.

Over 20 community groups will host experiential booths and activities spread across the park, ranging from gallery walks and immersive installations to games and facilitated conversations.

A snapshot of these community-led experiences include:

  • This Classroom is Not Empty”, an unmanned interactive booth by Queer Friendly Chers, queer and ally educators who continue creating safe spaces for queer and trans students even when they cannot safely be seen themselves in their workplaces;
  • Body pARTS”, an interactive reflection wall by The T Project exploring how scars can tell stories of healing and self-acceptance rather than shame;
  • South Asian Pride Singapore, sharing stories of identity and belonging while inviting visitors to contribute their own threads to a community tapestry; and
  • WLWheels, a group of lesbian riders showcasing their motorbikes and sharing how they found each other.

Creating multiple pathways into community

The expanded community-led format is intended to create more ways for people to engage with Pink Dot, regardless of where they are on their journey. Whether attendees are coming to Pink Dot for the first time or returning as long-time supporters, exploring their place within the community or showing up as allies, the new format offers multiple opportunities for participation at different comfort levels.

“Even in its 18th year, Pink Dot is still the first LGBTQ+ community event many people in Singapore attend,” said Pink Dot spokesperson Andee Tay. “It can be daunting to come alone or for the first time, and this year’s format makes it more accessible for people to connect to the community. At the same time, we wanted to create fresh opportunities for long-time attendees to connect with the community in new ways.”

This year, attendees are encouraged to bring someone new to Pink Dot, start conversations outside their usual circles, and spend time with the groups supporting queer Singaporeans throughout the year.

Come get personal

Ultimately, Pink Dot 18 is an invitation to take the freedom to love personally in our own lives — whether through listening to experiences different from our own, supporting loved ones  or contributing to community in everyday ways.

“Sometimes all it takes is one conversation or connection to see something differently,” said Pink Dot spokesperson Andee Tay. “When we connect with one another, love stops being an abstract idea and becomes something we do for one another. Because when something becomes personal, things change.”
